PISA!!!! Project 365 picture- Day 22

Yesterday we went for a day trip to Pisa. I went a little insane with my camera but here is one picture that I edited last night for my Project 365 picture of Reese and Jessica leaning like the tower!!!! I highly recommend a visit to Pisa if you're ever in Italy, we didn't get to see everything we wanted to see on our day trip. *sigh* guess that means we'll have to go again!!!! :)
More PISA photos to follow in a day or so!

Day 20 and 21- The artsy shots

This was inspired by Angelina Ballerina, whom Reese totally adores!!!!!!
This was art day in the Burwell abode. Reese decided to have an impromtu art show and so these were all taped up on the wall near the computer desk for all to admire. She also insisted that each "piece" have a disney princess sticker on it somewhere, and she placed them VERY precisely!!!!!

Day 19- I feel hopeful for Spring!!!

These are my Ikea Daffodils!!!! I have iris' too :) They bloomed and I HAD to take a picture of them against a nice bright background.

Hey Grandpa Wayne!!! LOOK AT ME!!!!! Project 365 Day 18

So this is the bike that my Dad bought Reese when we were in Vancouver. She didn't get it at the time and was never interested in riding it. WELL, all of a sudden this kid wants to ride her bike all day long!!! Every time we go to the park now the bike and helmet need to come too and there is a BIG meltdown if I say no. She still just sits on the seat and shuffles around on it but she's getting more confident every day. Its meant to be a balance bike, so no pedals and they just push themselves along and then eventually start gliding along. The little boy at the park that tried it out loved it and was bit more brave on it than Reese was. I think she'll get the hang of it by the summer though!!!!
SO..THANKS GRANDPA!!!

I heart Faces: Innocent Wonder entry

The theme this week at I Heart Faces is "Innocent Wonder" I feel that this picture definitely fits that theme. I can't even remember what caught Reese's eye out the window but she was amazed!!! I chose this picture as my project 365 picture that day because I liked it so much :)

Project 365:Day 16

We were quite excited to open our email here this morning and see that the Flames had beat the Canucks!! YEAHHHHHH!!! We were even more excited when we found out it was playing on Sky Sports at 3 in the afternoon :) So here is Reese showing some team spirit.

Project 365:Day 15

This is one of the stained glass windows inside the Duomo in Milan's Centro. The Duomo is gothic in style and GIGANTIC. What makes it impressive is that it was built over FIVE centuries. The ground was broke to build it in 1386, and the finishing touches weren't put on it until 1965. It is the largest Gothic cathedral and the second largest Catholic cathedral in the world.
It houses the remains of Saint Carlos Borromeo(you might remember seeing pictures that I posted of his home on Lake Maggiore) Saint Carlos is the patron saint for the prevention/cure of ulcers/colic/stomach disorders and also the patron saint of bishops and apple orchards. RANDOM I know!!!! But there were a LOT of candles lit to him!!!
It is also the seat to the Archbishop of Milan
There ya go, there's your Italian History lesson for the day!!

Project 365: Day 14

This picture was supposed to be a Valentine theme. I just love the look on her face in this picture though!!!! She looks SO excited, I can't even remember what she was looking at!

Project 365 Day 13- Seriously whose idea WAS this!?!

So today's picture lacks in creativity, but it definitely explains why I feel like I'm destined for the madhouse in less than 5 days. Reese's playschool, being generous and lovely, bought her a present for Christmas. Its a RECORDER, you know the one we were all forced to try and learn in school!!! The sound hasn't improved much let me tell you and Reese just walks around with it in her mouth blowing random high pitched notes over and over and over and over until I feel like I might throw myself out the window. I'm not kidding when I say that it might actually be the MOST annoying sound on earth. Its been a particularly painful week for us as I think Reese is giving up her daytime naps(WAYYYYYYY too soon for my liking) but she doesn't sleep at night if she's slept during the day and I'd much rather have sleep at night thank you very much!!!!
Ok rant over! Without further ado here is my very uncreative, barely processed picture for today's Project 365 entry. I promise to try and do better tomorrow and over the weekend!!!!!

Wow Guess I'd better catch up on my Project 365 posts!!!!

So here is Day 8-12 :)

This is the Juliet Balcony in Verona where we went and visited last weekend. It was crazy busy but it was pretty cool to see it. There was also a statue of Juliet under the balcony. This is where there actually WAS a Giulietta Capuleti!! Who knows if Shakespeare ever met the real person that he based his famous character on!

This is Reese being mischief!!!!! She's playing with my chapstick :)

Ahhhh the fog, its been foggy for like a week straight, super close pea soup type fog. So gross, this is us at the park playing in it.

This was my self portrait for the week(very aware that you can't seem my face thanks!!!) Its my artistic Ode to the Italian Housewife!!!!!

This is Reese playing with the farm set from Grandma Lynn, apparently the pigs were rebelling or something because they were getting a good talking to!
So here is Day 8-12 :)

Project 365 Day 7

Jessica came for a playdate, so imagine two little girls, all wired up and chasing each other around the house squealing at the top of their lungs......yeah!!!! I think I was partially deaf after they were done and the neighbours must think we got a monkey as a pet :) It was pretty funny to watch though, round and round in circles. This is them concentrating very hard on the dollhouse. Its fascinating to watch kids play with things like this, they come up with the most unlikely situations!!!! I think in this shot Jessica was showing Reese how her doll should use the potty because she knows that Reese is trying to learn to use the potty too. Such a sweet kid!!!!

Project 365 Day 6

This was what we did today, cleaned house, potty trained(notice Reese is not wearing any pants!!! She is wearing underwear though)
Then Reese had a fascination/obsession with a red checker and a piece of red ribbon and poor Henry had to be her canvas as she put them on his back in various arrangements and he walked around with them on. Seriously he has the patience of a saint some days.
The last shot is of her and Henry "snuggling" on the floor. This usually doesn't last that long since Henry MUST get a bit sick of Reese being in his face and I remove her before we have another "incident"
They are so cute together though, and she's wayyyyy more gentle with them now a days

Winter Fun :)

Here are some pictures from our skating and sledding adventures when we were home in Canada. Reese throughly enjoyed both outings despite the cold!!!!

About Me

My photo
Milan, Italy
I am 34 years old, married to my wonderful husband Richard and mother to a beautiful 8 year old daughter named Reese. We lived in the suburbs of Calgary until January 2010 where I worked as an ER Nurse. Then my husband was transferred to Vancouver for a 6 month temporary project. Our blog Tripping over the Sidewalk told all about our adventure living on the 30th floor of an apartment building in the middle of downtown Vancouver. Then we moved to Milan, Italy for 18 months, Ciao-Eh was the online forum for our Italian adventures. We moved to Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates in January 2012 and lived there for two and a half years. Sandscrapers, Souks and Sand is the blog of our adventures in the Middle East! We are now happy to be back on a little acreage just outside of Calgary where I'm sure more adventures await!!!!
